We use Conduction ® - a vocabulary of conducted gestures - mixed with improvisational theater games and concepts to get everyone improvising stories and scenes together. By the end of 90 minutes, we'll be composing together in real time.
- This is an advanced adult (18+) session in terms of your musical/artistic mastery, but no improvising experience is necessary. Different people join us each jam, both new and seasoned chamber improvisers. Whether this is your first or tenth jam, we want to hear everyone express their unique ideas and engage in the creative process together!
- There are two ticket types to register with, one is as a musician (please specify what instrument(s) you will be using!) and one is for all non-music related artists, like theatre, dance, poetry, etc. (please specify which medium you will be contributing with!)
We strive to curate an inclusive, BIPOC and LGBTQ+ forward creative space, welcoming individuals who are visibly or invisibly disabled, including those who are visually-impaired and/or neurodivergent.
In our jam sessions we make new friends, trust and elevate each other's unique musical and artistic voices, listen, and let ourselves be affected. Our space is supportive of creative risk-taking, and we encourage participants to use that space to delve and explore past the boundaries of their creative limitations. We know the limitations of virtual artistic collaboration will make us stronger musicians and collaborators when we transition back to in-person music-making, acting, and dancing in the future.
Each week we experiment with different ideas, including...
How might we depict certain environments? Create and transform themes? Leave and take up space? Be more immediately affected and connected to each other? Trust one another and take musical risks? Support each other's ideas?
Privacy Disclaimer: we may record our Zoom sessions to capture the brilliant spontaneity that often occurs but we will never publish any media without explicit consent from every participant. Part of our commitment to maintaining a safe environment for creativity to thrive relies on collective mutual respect between all individuals involved, including their rights to privacy.
